Custom Outdoor Living & Structural Carpentry · Louisville, KY
From a single gate repair to a full backyard transformation — decks, pergolas, screened porches, and multi-phase outdoor living builds. Every project starts with a written flat-fee quote, a defined scope, and a single point of contact from first cut to final walkthrough.
Serving Louisville, Jefferson County & Oldham County
What we build
Multi-level and elevated decks, built-in seating, integrated lighting, and finish work that holds square through Kentucky winters.
Freestanding or attached pergolas in cedar or pressure-treated lumber. Joinery and proportions that make the structure feel intentional.
Covered outdoor rooms — the kind of space you use eight months a year. Designed to extend the house, not bolt onto it.
Hand-built custom gates and railings, hung square and latched true. Hardware selected to match the work, not catalog defaults.
Bringing existing decks back to life — board and structural replacement, spindle and rail work, pressure washing, and stain.
Larger, multi-phase backyard transformations that combine deck, pergola, screening, and finish carpentry into one coherent space. As lead carpenter on these projects, we plan the sequence, keep the schedule, and bring in electricians, masons, or other specialty trades as the scope requires.
Larger & multi-phase projects
As the scope grows — a full backyard rebuild, a phased renovation, a project that involves an architect or designer — the carpentry work is only part of what has to go right. Here's how we run the bigger ones.
A single person accountable for the schedule, the budget, and every decision — from the first walkthrough to the final punch list. No handoffs, no "let me check and get back to you."
When a project needs an electrician for outdoor lighting, a mason for footings, or other specialty trades, we sequence and manage that work as part of the build — so it's one project, not three separate ones you're managing yourself.
Larger builds are broken into clear phases with their own milestones and pricing, so budget and progress stay visible the whole way through — not just at the start and the final invoice.
If you're working with an architect or designer, we build to their construction documents and communicate directly with them to keep the finished work matching the design intent.
Century Oak Builders is a specialty carpentry contractor — we lead and build the woodwork ourselves, and coordinate other licensed trades as a project requires. We're not a general contractor of record; ask us where that distinction matters for your project.

Field notes
We're early — most of our work is still standing in backyards, not yet on camera. Photographs from current builds are added here as projects wrap. Ask to see recent work in person during your site visit.
How it works
We come out, look at the space, and talk through what you're trying to build. No charge, no obligation. We listen more than we pitch.
You get the scope, the materials, the timeline, and the price — in writing, in plain language — before any work begins. One number. Everything included.
We show up when we say we will, work clean, and keep you updated as the project moves. Materials are quality-grade, and the work is done right the first time.
We walk the finished work with you. If something needs adjusting in the months after, you have our number. Built right means standing behind it.
About
An oak grows slowly and lasts a hundred years. The work should too.
Century Oak Builders is a Louisville-based carpentry company focused on outdoor living — decks, pergolas, screened porches, and the gates, railings, and finish carpentry that complete them. Projects range from a single repair to full, multi-phase backyard builds run alongside architects, designers, and other trades.
The work is built by hand, by people who care more about how the corner joints look ten years from now than how quickly the job closes. We quote in writing, we don't pad the bill, and we don't disappear after the final payment.
Serving Louisville, Jefferson County, and Oldham County.
